Change the World

Simply put, you can!

Okay, I agree, not everyone has it in them to be a Mandela, a Gandhi, a Churchill, an Einstein or an Obama. Not everyone has it in them to make rapid and far reaching changes to this planet within their life time.

But everyone has something, no matter how small it may seem, to contribute to the positive development of our world.

Uncharted waters

And our world badly needs everyone of us to do our bit. We are in uncharted waters right now.

Never before have nearly seven billion people (and rising) ever cohabited on this earth. Never before has our technological development reached such breathtaking speed. Never before has the Earth been subjected to climate change of our own making.

Unprecedented opportunity

This is a time of unprecedented challenge. Yet this is also a time of unprecedented opportunity.

If every man, woman and child of sound mind and body were to consciously agree to fulfill one realistic short to medium term objective relating to the positive improvement of life on this Earth, the change would be absolutely staggering.

So here's my question to you...

What will you do?

New Insights Africa

Some three-and-a-half years ago, I started New Insights Africa with the aim of bringing personal freedom, confidence and growth to people from all walks of life. I thought that if I could train and develop a dozen good life coaches they would have a profound impact on perhaps a couple of hundred other people.

Today, we have trained and certified nearly 60 life coaches, most of whom are practising successfully - and there are many more on the way.

Very conservatively speaking, lets say each coach positively touches the life of 50 other people each year. Do the maths and you'll see that within a three year period it is easily possible to achieve a positive impact on 10,000 people - and the rub-off effect doesn't end there.

I'm really proud of that. But at the same time I know there's so much more that can be done. Once you start rolling the snowball downhill it very quickly picks up pace and mass until it becomes a force to be reckoned with.

Quality rather than quantity

When you consider your own situation and how it is you can exert a positive influence on the world, don't fret about focusing on the scale of your influence. Rather focus on the quality of your efforts.

Just imagine the impact if each and every one of us could bring about a positive improvement in life for just one other person!

I spoke with a lady this morning who spent time offloading to me about how meaningless her life felt and about how lacking in ambition and interest she felt each day when she arrived for her work.

I questioned her about what it was that would truly make her feel fulfilled and she told me she would love to devote her life to helping people who felt the same way she did find meaning in life.

Interesting hey?

I suggested that she might consider her experience of lack of meaning and fulfillment in her life as a signal. Could it be that this might be her calling in life?

Her attitude suddenly did an about turn and the frustration in her voice turned to excitement as she started to contemplate the possibilities.

Lets pull together

Every one of us has the capacity to make this world a somewhat better place, whether through our work, our attitude to others, our care for the environment, our modest acts of kindness, our writings or any number of positive actions or initiatives.

No matter how small or big those actions, every one of us can play an important part.

Lets all pull together and make this world the magical place I believe it was always meant to be for all of us.
